Behind the Brand: AV Laboratories Enhances Skin Wellness and Longevity With Patented Technology Developed By Stem Cell Scientists
AV Laboratories is a luxury biotech skincare company that features patented longevity technology AVL SOM3® in all of its products.
Ami Mezezi has a background is in molecular biology and biomedical sciences, and prior to founding AV Laboratories, he was part of a company that developed and manufactured products used to grow stem cells. That experience gave him and several members of their core team deep insight into what cells truly need to thrive, which had them asking if these principles could be applied to skin care.
“We began testing these formulas at the molecular level and found they had remarkable effects on skin wellness, collagen production, and skin rejuvenation, for a more youthful-looking complexion,” says Mezezi. “That led to the development of our proprietary technology, AVL SOM3®, which now powers all of our products.”
AV Laboratories is a molecular skincare brand that features AVL SOM3® technology in all of its products, which increases skin rejuvenation, molecular wellness, barrier function, and supports NAD+ levels by providing skin with a precise amount of nutrients that it requires for optimal appearance and performance. “As someone who has dealt with dermatitis for years, I even began testing it on myself, which cleared up the issues I had,” says Mezezi. “Seeing those results firsthand, combined with the data from over 1,300 trial participants, gave us the conviction to launch AV Laboratories.”
We chatted with Mezezi, who shared the inspiration behind the brand, favorite products, future plans, and more.
When was AV Laboratories founded and what’s the meaning behind the name?
We officially launched the brand in October, but we’ve been developing our patented longevity technology AVL SOM3®, for over five years. Our previous work in stem cell science gave us many insights into cellular function, specifically developing fluids that deliver the precise nutrients needed for cells to thrive.
AVL SOM3® is a culmination of that work, harnessing the power of biotechnology to nourish the skin. AV stands for Aqua Vitae in Latin, which translates to “water of life.” For us, Aqua Vitae perfectly reflects how we aim to capture the very essence of life and longevity for your skin at every age.

Tell us more about your products and what makes them special.
We’re a biotech company that happens to do skincare with a laser-like focus on longevity and molecular wellness to create simple, yet scientifically precise formulations that help skin look its best. To that end, one of our key differentiators is our patented AVL SOM3® technology, which is a core ingredient in every one of our products.
AVL SOM3® was developed by a team of stem cell scientists over a span of five years and it serves as the foundation for total skin wellness and longevity. Specifically, it provides your skin with a precise dose of peptides, amino acids, vitamins, and other nutrients that empower your skin to renew, restore, and rejuvenate at astounding rates.
Beyond our formulations that are created in-house at our biotech R&D facility in Europe and tested at our Molecular Research Center in Colorado, we’ve also prioritized our packaging to not only be sustainable, but also to ensure long-lasting efficacy and potency of our products.
For example, we purposely selected darker glass with UV protection to extend the shelf life of our products and limit environmental impacts such as light that can change formulations. Not only does this help preserve the effectiveness of our products, but it also reduces waste by prolonging its use.

Do you have a hero/favorite product?

As an all-in-one daily product it has quickly become one of my favorites. To complement our Face Serum, Face Cream Light provides advanced hydration for all skin types, clinically proven to boost skin wellness and longevity. The Face Mist is the brand’s newest launch and works to strengthen skin’s barrier, reduce inflammation, redness, and provides instant hydration.
Where are your products sold?
Our products are primarily sold direct to consumer via our website and in select spas, skincare clinics, and dermatology offices around the world. We’re looking forward to expanding our footprint to share AVL’s solutions with more customers when, where and how they prefer to shop for skincare.
What's next for the brand?
We’re really excited to continue to expand our portfolio with new products and strategic partnerships in the coming year. We just launched our Face Mist, which is a great way for people to hydrate their skin wherever they are and stay refreshed during the warmer months ahead.
