The Best Spas in Miami

MITA Eyewear is inspired by everyday art including the influential street and graffiti art from the city’s historic Wynwood Walls murals, and through its “Reshape” philosophy, the brand is passionately devoted to redefining the relationship between fashion and sustainability.

We caught up with Cabrera to learn more about the story behind the brand, how they make their sustainable sunglasses, and more.

What’s the meaning behind the name MITA?

Miami + Italy = MITA. We are based in Miami and our glasses are finished in Italy.

The brand’s collections bring to life both the fashion sense of Miami along with the craftsmanship and artistry of Italy.

Tell us more about your "Reshape" philosophy, the materials your sunglasses are made from, and how they are sourced.

The "Reshape the Future" philosophy behind MITA Sustainable Eyewear focuses on rethinking and redefining the eyewear industry in a way that is both environmentally responsible and socially conscious. Through this philosophy, MITA aims to "reshape the future" by providing consumers with stylish eyewear that contributes to a better, more sustainable world.

This philosophy reflects MITA's commitment to sustainability and innovation, and it involves several key principles:

  • Sustainable Materials. MITA uses eco-friendly, renewable materials like bio-acetate, recycled metals, and biodegradable components to reduce the environmental impact of their products. These materials are not only sustainable but also durable and stylish, ensuring that the eyewear remains high-quality and long-lasting.

  • Circular Design. The company focuses on a circular design approach, where products are made with the intention of being recycled or upcycled at the end of their life cycle. This reduces waste and minimizes the use of non-renewable resources.

  • Social Responsibility. MITA also emphasizes ethical practices in its manufacturing process. This includes fair labor conditions, support for local communities, and transparency throughout the production chain.

  • Innovation for Impact. The company aims to use innovation to address environmental and social challenges. This includes exploring new ways to create eyewear that doesn't compromise on style, comfort, or functionality, while still being eco-friendly.

  • Education and Advocacy. MITA advocates for sustainability in the fashion and accessories industries, educating consumers and inspiring other brands to adopt more responsible practices.
